Anne Arundel Receives Budget Presentation Award, Six Years in a Row

Anne Arundel County earned recognition for excellence in budgeting for the sixth consecutive year.

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) praised the county for its commitment to governmental budgeting and its adherence to the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and effectiveness.

The award highlights the county’s compliance with nationally recognized guidelines that evaluate a budget’s effectiveness as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communications tool. To achieve this honor, the county’s budget met rigorous standards and demonstrated proficiency in all four categories and 14 mandatory criteria.

“Our government works best when we earn the trust of our residents by demonstrating fiscal responsibility and transparency,” said County Executive Steuart Pittman. “This award recognizes the consistent hard work of our budget team and reflects our commitment to delivering the services and investments that make our county stronger.”

The GFOA award program attracts more than 1,700 participants from across North America. It recognizes award recipients as leaders who set the standard for high-quality budgeting and inspire other governments to strive for excellence.

“I am extremely proud of our budget team,” said Budget Officer Chris Trumbauer. “Receiving the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is a validation not only of how we present the annual budget, but also of the process County Executive Pittman has established to collaborate and share budget information with the County Council, the Auditor, and the public. We will always strive to continue that work in future budgets.”
